David, I love your art! I can not wait to get back to San Diego some time and see a show, and I'm looking forwad to possibly viewing some at our 20th!

When I first saw David's art, I was blown away; completely impressed by his use of color and I fell in love with his style. Once I learned that he was open to working closely with me on a commissioned work, I knew the perfect way to honor my husband and our 10 year marriage for our upcoming anniversary. David created an amazing piece of art for us--something that I can look at everyday to reflect on the past and look towards the future. I asked him to create a piece that captured the past, specifically how I met my husband playing beach vball in Manhattan Beach, and the present, including our current house with me, my husband and our two kids. David was masterful in his approach. He incorporated our house at the end of the Manhattan Beach pier so that our family is the focal point of the piece, underneath a gorgeous sun. A young couple can also be seen playing volleyball on the sand below the pier. Certainly, pulling these two different phases of life together could have been awkward. But, David's brilliance and creativity came through to create something both tangible and magical! I can't say enough about David and his work. It is truly amazing. I will forever treasure this piece of art...and really, this piece of ourselves.

Stopped by your web-page to see this California artist named "Villa". Love your work, makes me think of a modern day Van Gogh. Hopefully will get to see it in person and meet you some day. Until then, happy painting, and thanks for the inspiration!

I purchased two of Davidâ??s paintings during the Art Walk On The Bay in 2010. His use of color and brush strokes made the iconic Coronado Bridge appear magical on a San Diego night. His interpretation of the exposition building at Balboa Park makes you understand the importance of this structure to San Diego and the park. Earlier this year I acquired two of Davidâ??s interpretations of Pacific Beach at the Little Italy Art Walk. The landscape captures the receding waves on the beach, and the other a cubist version of a life guard shack. While each is dramatically different in style, in their own way they capture the true spirit of Pacific Beach. I became interested in commissioning David to create a piece for my home. Not knowing how to approach an artist to create something for me personally without stifling their creativity, I first talked with his most adamant supporter and wife Mary who assured me that David would work with me to create a piece that would showcase his talent and I would be proud to own. David addressed all my concerns both directly and in a slide presentation explaining how he works with a subject and a client. We agreed the subject of the painting which would be the Santa Fe train station in downtown San Diego. As work progressed, David provided routine updates and photographs of the painting and invited me to his studio so I could see firsthand his progress. The painting he created is amazing! He captured the majesty of the Santa Fe station with its inviting plaza complete with water fountain, shadowing palms and an arriving train. David even captured the reflection of the Santa Fe building sign on the glass of the building across the street from the station. The surrounding newer steel and glass buildings appear to bow in homage to the classic Santa Fe station. Not only has this been a great experience, it has provided me an opportunity to meet a truly great artist, and cherish a piece of San Diego.
